The project provides support to Indonesia, primarily the Ministry of Energy, in creating and implementing a reliable framework for fostering energy efficiency in the cooling and air-conditioning sector.
Activities: (2014 - 2018)
The first step of the project involves taking inventories and making projections of reduction potentials in the industrial and cooling sectors. Based on these, advisory services will be provided for drawing up a nationally appropriate mitigation action (NAMA) with specific measures for using energy efficient cooling technologies in selected areas of application. At the same time, policy-makers will receive information on options for promoting emission reductions through NAMAs and for creating incentives and promotional measures for efficient cooling and air-conditioning technologies. In addition, the project will provide support for developing a financing strategy and an economic efficiency analysis, and for submitting these to the UNFCCC. This will help ensure that a subsequent broad-based dissemination can be financed either as a 'supported NAMA' or 'unilateral NAMA'.
