Objective:
Decrease emissions from refrigeration through efficiency increase and phase-out of HCFs in the sector
Activities: (2014 - 2028)
The activities under the NAMA include:
- Produce new refrigerators that have an increased energy efficiency as compared to those currently available in the market;
- Replace old refrigerators still working with R134a based refrigerant;
- Recover and destroy refrigerant gas from those old refrigerators;
- Gradually phase out HFCs.
The NAMA is split into four phases:
- Design of the overall NAMA;
- Design of a pilot programme;
- Implementation of pilot programme;
- Implementation of fuel scale programme.
Impact and MRV
|
Cumulative GHG reductions: 2 MtCO2e |
---|
Mitigative capacity:
Phase-out of HFCs will contribute to emission reductions beyond the time frame of the NAMA
Co-benefits:
Social: | Information has not been provided |
|
Economic: | The NAMA is expected to increase of quality of products on Mexican market, create jobs and save energy and costs in the residential and commercial sector. |

Environmental: | Information has not been provided |
MRV Framework: (2014 - 2028)
MRV approach relies on keeping track of collection of old and sales of new refrigerators, whose features (such as energy consumption) are measured.
