  • Transport
  • Retail

Activities:
The NAMA consists of various components targeting different elements in the value chain:

  • Introduction of new kilns
  • Establishment of local institutional set up for retail processes
  • Planning of logistics

Type of support needed:

  • Financial support
  • Technology transfer
  • Capacity building

Impact and MRV

No Data Available.png
Cumulative GHG reductions: No data available

Mitigative capacity:

No information has been provided on mitigative capacity

Co-benefits:

Social: Decrease energy poverty
Economic: Job creation, stable structure of the charcoal sector, fairer payment of producers
Environmental: Environmental benefits through decreased deforestation, such as less erosion and resulting higher quality of soils.

MRV Framework:

All charcoal producers and retailers will register. Additionally, the study suggests various indicators for each element in the value chaing considered to measure the impact of the NAMA. Some examples are "Number of producers of each type and affiliated charcoal association", "Number of labelled bags of each charcoal type purchased by the charcoal unit", "Number of transport licenses granted", and "Bags of charcoal sold to retailers".
