Objective:
The objective is to improve the performance of Lebanese electricity production, covering the existing objectives set out in the government strategy for the electricity sector, and to mobilise financial resources to help reduce the emission factor of electricity production in Lebanon by 40%.
Activities: (2012 - 2020)
This action will include:
- Implementing new regulations and opening the electrical market to the private sector.
- Subsidies for investments in the implementation of the measures including:
- Renewable energy support scheme
- Rehabilitation of existing hydro power plants
- Building of infrastructure for natural gas
- Improvement of electrical distribution system
- Capacity building on and assistance for management of the electricity system with a higher share of renewable energies and the associated regulatory framework
- Assistance to develop an MRV system
