The NAMA Support Project has several aims. These include forest renewal, conservation and sustainable management, contributing to climate change mitigation. Its other objectives are to maintain biodiversity, improve the livelihoods of local people and leverage public and private finance.
Activities: (2015 - 2021)
It will address the systemic barriers affecting the implementation of forestry sector reform. It will also build national and local institutional capacity to transform the entire sector to a net carbon sink development path beyond the scope of the project. Increased institutional capacity will help drive the national reform processes through. Finally, the project will incentivise local people and the private sector to lease land and get involved with forest management, as well as generating investment in the sector.
