Accelerating the Market Transformation to Energy Efficient Lighting +The main activities of NAMA proposal includes the development and enforcement of a National Efficient Lighting Strategy, including minimum energy performance standards (MEPS); monitoring, verification, and enforcement; environmentally sound management (ESM); and communication and distribution campaign showing the benefits of high efficiency LEDs. The support from the proposed NAMA will provide both the design and implementation. Additionally, the project will establish a revolving loan fund (RLF) to accelerate the transition to efficient lighting products.
Adaptation and Mitigation Initiatives in Rice Cultivation +Agriculture contributes to more than 30% of the GHG emissions in the Philippines and is the second largest GHG emission source in the country. Although rice cultivation occupies the top position among the sources of agricultural emissions, this emission source has not been addressed by any major climate change-related activities up to the present. This NAMA or Adaptation and Mitigation Initiatives in Agriculture (AMIA) not only provides substantial emission reductions, but also offers adaptation benefits. Its interventions can be classified into two main packages: * basic package: creation of policy and economic incentives and the delivery of training/education to farmers * support package: optional training sessions for participating farmers to diversify their production through gaining knowledge and experience in growing other crops (products) such as vegetables. The AMIA will target a total of 750,000 ha of irrigated rice fields, approximately half of the irrigated rice fields across the whole country. Towards the end of the AMIA implementation, it is expected that half of the irrigated rice fields will have adopted AWD as their standard irrigation practice
Adaptive Sustainable Forest Management in Borjomi-Bakuriani Forest District +* The project will systematically analyse the baseline CO2 and non-CO2 emissions and removals by sink associated to forest land use and land use change, forest vegetation types, carbon pools and activities in the Borjomi-Bakuriani pilot region. * Climate change mitigation activities will be derived from proposed good practice guidelines on sustainable management of forests. * The restoration of 45.000 hectares of forest will substantially enhance carbon sequestration and storage.

Bio-energy generation and greenhouse-gases mitigation though organic-waste utilization +*The primary objective of the project will focus on production of biogas from livestock wastes of dairy farms so as to capture and utilize the CH4 gas as a source of bioenergy. *Conduct diagnostic studies to evaluate the existing pattern of organic-wastes disposal/utilization and the amount of green-house gases emitted in a time span *Management and utilization of bio-digesters’ slurry as source of bio-fertilizer to substitute the chemical fertilizer; the main source of greenhouse gases at the stage of manufacturing. *Capacity building of dairy farms for installation of biogas system in solution of trouble shooting. *Capacity building of the federal/provincial and NGO peoples regarding management of manure and carbon sequestration.
Bioenergy NAMA +The NAMA aims to provide families in rural areas with access to low cost renewable energy. At the same time, end users in cities are to be provided with a “greener” source of energy in order to achieve a reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The scheme consists of six elements: * increasing the demand for biofuels by promoting bioenergy technologies and raising awareness for this type of energy * strengthening business initiatives with technology suppliers and retailers * designing and implementing mechanisms for the financing of bioenergy projects\ * developing a standardization system as well as a framework for research and development * providing technical assistance * establishing and developing an MRV system So far, NAMA activities conducted have: * Organised a first sectorial roundtable with the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) and the Ministry of Environment (MINAM) * Organised and ran technical committees on a subnational level to discuss the legal and regulatory framework * Provided training and support for the formulation of public investment projects in the bioenergy sector * Finalised an agreement with the second-tier development bank COFIDE boosting financial mechanisms for private sector credit generation * Involved the development banks Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) and Dutch Development Bank (FMO) in the implementation of pilot projects through their Peruvian counterparts
Biogas for onsite power generation for medium/large pig Farms +The NAMA intends to: * develop a policy and institutional framework to incentivize investment in commercial biogas-electricity generation at pig farms in Vietnam * enhance the development of biogas-electricity generation at pig farm in order to reduce GHG emission and contribute to agricultural sector target which described in the country's National Climate Change Strategy * improve pig farm capacity on affection abiding national regulatory standard for waste treatment. During the implementation phase, assuming that 50% of pig farms will be implemented, it is expected that there will be about 2150 farms installed biogas power generation system with total capacity in 2020 is 215 MW. .
Blue Carbon NAMA Conserve and Restore Mangroves in the Dominican Republic +Support for the Preparation of this NAMA will result in a robust design, encompassing *capacity-building *technical assistance *planning for financial mechanisms for long-term financing and sustainability *sound scientific research, and wide-ranging participation. Specifically, the preparation will contribute to the conservation and restoration of mangroves in the following ways: *Quantify the carbon sink capacity of Mangroves in the Dominican Republic through a comprehensive inventory and analysis of ecological conditions and carbon stocks that are intact, under threat, or notably degraded. *The quantified carbon sink capacity will contribute to generating emission allowances, emission credits, and other types of CO2 compensation certificates. *Build national and local institutional capacity to assess the CO2 sequester capacity of mangroves in the Dominican Republic *Facilitate national dialogue on how to leverage carbon credits to promote greater competitiveness for small and medium-sized businesses through policies and financial mechanisms that help SMEs in the agriculture, fishing and tourism sectors build climate resilience into assets and operations. *Develop national strategies to restore and reforest mangrove systems around the Dominican Republic that also engage communities through partnerships that articulate economic incentives for mangrove ecosystem conservation and reforestation with improved livelihoods. *Establish a Blue Carbon NAMA Knowledge Toolkit that facilitates knowledge transfer to other organizations in Latin America, the Caribbean and outside the region that are facing similar development challenges. The toolkit will enable public and private sector leaders to. *Apply an emerging field of tools, products and services that cater to the coastal ecosystem financing and management in order to design a Blue Carbon NAMA. *'Identify transformational change; co-benefits; financial ambitions; and GHG mitigation. *Design technical and financial components that can reduce GHG emissions (direct reductions), increase the volume of public finance mobilized for low carbon investment and development, increase the volume of private finance mobilized for low carbon investment and development, target the number of people directly benefitting from the NAMA Support Project (NSP), and support activities to catalyse impact beyond the project.
Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) for Kampala +This NAMA will assist Uganda in planning, developing and financing a coordinated urban transportation system around design of routes, linkage between the BRT routes and other modes of transport, facilities and resources to increase ridership, operational mechanisms of efficiency such as scheduling, on time repairs, maintenance, buses, pricing, park and ride facilities. The activities of the NAMA include *building 9 routes of the BRT *non-motorised transport (NMT) routes linked to the bus routes *park and ride facilities *programming and scheduling buses along the routes, and *ensuring systems for operational efficiency.
Bus Rapid Transit in Kigali +The NAMA is planned to be implemented through the design, construction, implementation, and operation of an efficient bus rapid transit (BRT) system for the city of Kigali. The key direct mitigation actions include the switch to low emissions, high efficiency transport modes, higher fuel and emissions standards for new vehicles, low sulphur diesel regulations, fleet renewal and scrappage regulations and emissions compliance certification and inspection. In addition the NAMA will include supportive actions like BRT main bus corridors, standardized route optimization, dedicated “rush hour” bus lanes and integration with rural and inter-city bus routes. Under this NAMA and the resulting agreement reached by the Inter-ministerial Coordinating Committee, and regulated via the Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority and the City of Kigali, private sector companies are expected to operate the Kigali BRT system via service contracts with individual companies or cooperatives, effectively under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.

CSP NAMA +The plan is to construct a single CSP plant in the north of the country. According to the CTF Investment Plan for Chile, tendering for plant construction will be Oct 2012 and the plant should be finished by Aug 2015. CSP is of particular interest in the northern region of Chile because by using energy storage, it can better meet the particular demand profile of customers on that grid (24 hour flat demand). The plant will reduce the intermittent generation constraints of non conventional renewable energy.
Catalytic Program for Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings +ProCEEEP will involves a number of technical cooperation (TC) activities, including the institutional strengthening of the key stakeholders (CNE, MH, and the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources, MARN); the design of an EE M&E system, and capacity building for the COEEs.
Cement NAMA +It will lead to sizeable emission reductions from the cement industry, while greatly decreasing urban and water pollution.
Cement NAMA in Peru +The cement industry was responsible for around 6.1 millions tons of CO2e in 2010, approximately 8% of national GHG emissions when the land-use change and forestry sector is excluded. The NAMA will encourage the introduction of three main measures to promote low carbon production: * Co-processing – e.g. use of waste as a fossil fuel substitute in clinker production kilns. * Clinker substitution to reduce the clinker / cement ratio by replacing clinker with pozzolan/ steel slag/ limestone filler in cement production * Encourage energy efficient best practice technologies to decrease energy consumption at cement plants. The NAMA will accomplish these objectives by establishing the following enabling frameworks: * Cleaner Production Agreement will be signed with cement companies to obtain mitigation commitments from industry stakeholders and an implementation plan prepared for achieving this * A MRV system introduced that uses international standards of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development’s Cement Sustainability Initiative * Regulations, standards and/or codes that allow the use of cement with a lower carbon content in domestic building applications as well as the introduction of co-processing and energy efficiency measures. The NAMA was officially presented at a stakeholder workshop on March 3rd 2016 in Lima, where approximately 50 key stakeholders from the cement and other private sectors and key ministries gathered to discuss preparations for implementation. Implementation of the NAMA will be supported by various ministries and governmental agencies, and the cement companies: * Ministry of Production: focal point, being responsible for the coordination and implementation of the NAMA * Ministry of Environment: raising awareness about the low carbon processes for Peru’s cement industry * Peruvian Association of Cement Producers (ASOCEM): support for implementation of NAMA activities in their sector * Cement companies: implementation of the mitigation technologies, meeting voluntary commitments that are set to be defined in the Clean Production Agreement. * Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation: promotion of the use of cement with low carbon content in government-supported housing projects * Directorate of Environment Quality in the Ministry of Environment: regulations for waste management that include the option for co-processing * Agency for Assessment and Environmental Control (OEFA): promotion of proposed eco-friendly measures.
Circular Economy Solid Waste Management Approach for Urban Areas +Instead of waste being collected for disposal only, the NAMA facilitates the diversion of 90% of collected waste away from disposal sites and towards various recycling practices. It also aims to create multiple links currently missing in the value chain: recycling points, where waste will be sorted for subsequent recycling; and composting facilities, for the organic waste treatment. The NAMA will research and operationalize new recycling technologies as well as strengthen existing recycling industries. This will include conversion of organic waste to insect based protein, terra-preta production (enriching compost with waste-based charcoal), using residual waste for cement kilns, and a study on the treatment of hazardous waste fractions. The NAMA will be carried out in two phases: * Years 1-5: infrastructure development phase * Years 6-15: full-scale operations phase So far, successful pilot models have already been tested by SMEs in Nairobi.

Clean Production Agreements in Chile +A Clean Production Agreement APL is an agreement between a business sector, businesses and public agencies with jurisdiction in the matters of the Agreement, seeking to implement cleaner production through specific goals and actions. The scope of the NAMA is solid and liquid industrial waste.
Climate-Smart Dairy Livestock Value Chains in Uganda +Climate-smart agriculture in the dairy sector combines three objectives: * sustainably increasing agricultural milk productivity and incomes * adapting and building resilience to climate change along the milk production value chain * reducing greenhouse gas emissions. In this case, the mitigation measures that will be considered under climate-smart resilient agriculture are those that reduce emissions from enteric fermentation and animal manure management. This NAMA is expected to consist of 4 individual commercially driven business modules implemented by individual farmers and cooperatives, as well as private sector participants: * Feed production * Hay production * Purchase of certified milk from farmers * Biodigester business The MAAIF will provide the necessary training, capacity-building, and awareness-raising to key stakeholders such as cooperatives in a train-the-trainers approach to allow for scale and replication of the NAMA interventions. Farmers’ organizations, cooperatives, or groups will be provided with the knowledge and skills to train the individual participating farmers of the NAMA. This will be a train-the-trainers activity for proper feeding strategies, use of quality feeds, diet manipulation, and use of hay, among others. The organizations, cooperatives, or groups will be tasked to disseminate awareness to farmers about the economic benefits of participating in the NAMA.
Co-processing of municipal solid waste (MSW) based refuse derive fuel (RDF) in cement plants in India +GIZ along with adelphi and its consortium partner Perspectives have prepared the final NAMA report. To present the key findings of this report to relevant stakeholders and to give the opportunity for feedback to be considered for the finalisation of the document, a stakeholder workshop took place on 15 June 2017 at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi. Interested stakeholders who had supported and contributed to the development of the NAMA participated and shared their comments on the findings of the project which were considered very useful for the implementation of low carbon technology solutions for the waste management sector in India.
